Blodgett Barn Wedding

Blodgett Barn

Congratulations Jessica and Eric! These two met five years ago, when Jessica was the new girl to an all male department at work. Eric was hopping between shifts when their paths crossed. She mentioned how nice it would be to grab breakfast after getting out at 6:30 am, but didn’t have any friends who would be awake at that time. Eric managed to hear this and they exchanged numbers, and the following morning, she forced him out of bed at 6:30 am to grab breakfast at Crow’s Nest in Kalamazoo. From that point on they were pretty content with spending all of their time together. Being on separate shifts, she would call Eric every morning, and he would reluctantly wake up to grab breakfast.

Eric proposed a few years later on a backpacking trip on North Manitou Island. On the ferry to get to the island, a storm was slowly rolling in. They made a plan to set up camp at the first good site they could find, just as it started to rain. The mosquitoes were AWFUL without the wind blowing off the lake, and they spent the better part of the night dousing themselves selves in bug spray, although they managed to eat dinner on the beach in between the rain showers. The rain started to pick up in the middle of the night, with the loudest thunder ever, along with a slow leak in the tent. The following morning they watched the sun rise, and hiked out. The mosquitoes were still persistent, but they had fun joking and hiking along, given the lack of sleep the night before. They set up camp on the highest dune they could find with nice tree cover, overlooking Lake Michigan. They walked down to the beach and spent some time watching boats out on the water, and marveled at how drastically the weather had changed from the night before. It was at this point that Eric got down on one knee…

They are backpacking around New Zealand for their honeymoon!! Amazing, right?

Detroit Wedding Masonic Temple

Atheneum Suite Hotel
Masonic Temple
Detroit, MI

Congratulations to Barbara and Haddy! What a beautiful celebration in downtown Detroit! We started at the Atheneum Hotel, getting ready with the girls. The ceremony and reception were both at the Masonic Temple, with it's old historic charms.

Props to these troopers, as it felt like 120 degrees with the humidity. Nothing spoiled this day, though. Barbara just threw her hair up and carried on with the fairytale.

Haddy and Barbara met through a coworker at work. They are both Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.  Haddy currently works in the Homicide division, and Barbara is in the Public Integrity division. They have now been together for about three years.

Their first date was at a hole in the wall bar in Ferndale, MI, called the Stop Spot (which no longer exists).  They sang karaoke, drank two-hearted beer, and had a rap battle (which Haddy won).

Haddy proposed in Clearwater Beach, Florida.  He planned a surprise getaway weekend at a beautiful beach front resort and after spending a perfect day lounging and relaxing on the beach, he walked her down the beachfront to a secluded spot, and proposed at sunset.  They got tacos and went mini-golfing afterwards (which Barbara won).

As you can see, they're both pretty competitive. They play Mario-kart on N64 to settle disagreements! How cool. There is almost nothing that they can’t turn into a (mostly) friendly competition.  They play tennis together in the summer, which they say neither of them is particularly good at. They have run in two tough mudder races together. They are both very work-oriented people.  They love their careers, and spend most of their lives at the office. They have two beautiful dogs, Dakota and Obie, and love them dearly.

I have to give a quick shout-out for the cake pops on the wedding day! They were the party favors. Oh.My.Goodness. I don't even like cake. These things were phenomenal. I have dreams of them. I will be ordering from this place, K and T Cake Pops.

Another big, humungous shout-out to my beautiful and talented second shooter, Katie Mollon. I love working with this one oh so much! Thank you for continuing to work with me and being everywhere that I am not. Let's go play with Holgas soon, please! ;)

Thank you to Barbara and Haddy for trusting me to document your story. I am truly honored.
